Acupuncture is a form of Chinese Medicine where very thin needles are inserted into the skin at specific points to treat illnesses and improve health. Chinese Medicine has been around for over 2000 years and continues to thrive in today's society due to its effectiveness shown through scientific studies and the natural quality of the medicine. Acupuncture has the ability to positively affect multiple systems in the body including the nervous, cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine and immune systems. By stimulating the body's various systems, acupuncture helps resolve pain, balance hormones, decrease inflammation, improve sleep and digestive function, and reduce stress as well as many other conditions.

Energy, called Qi, flows through 14 channels in our body and can be influenced and balanced by stimulating specific points on the body. Points are located along the channels which connect all of our major organs. If the flow of Qi gets blocked, like water getting stuck behind a dam, the disruption can lead to pain, lack of function, or illness. Acupuncture helps balance and unblock the flow of Qi.

Acupuncture needles create micro-traumas at the site of insertion which stimulate the body’s natural healing response by bringing oxygen and blood to an area to regenerate new tissue growth and nourish cells of the body. The needles send a signal to the brain to release endorphins, the body’s natural pain killing chemicals, and also stimulate serotonin which positively affects a person’s mood. Modern research has shown that acupuncture activates the parasympathetic nervous system which is responsible for functions such as sleep, digestion, and healing.

Cupping

Cupping is the practice of using glass cups to apply suction to an area of the body. The suction creates a vacuum against the skin which improves blood flow and circulation, reduces inflammation, increases mobility, and clears toxins. Cupping effectively reduces muscle tightness and relieves pain from knots, spasms, strains, sprains, etc.

Herbal Medicine
Chinese Herbs are high-quality medicinal grade herbs taken to target your symptoms as well as the underlying/root cause of your condition. All natural herbs work with your body to improve your health without chemically altering your body the way synthetic materials in western pharmaceuticals do. Formulas are most commonly administered as tea-pills, capsules, tinctures, or powders that are made into a tea. Herbs are carefully chosen to address your signs and symptoms and can be easily modified as your health journey changes. In addition, herbs can used topically to address various skin concerns and for injury recovery!

Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a technique where an instrument is press-stroked across the skin. This technique creates "Sha" which are little red dots that arise due to the stagnated blood in your tissues. Similar to cupping, Gua Sha resolves spasms and pain and promotes blood circulation in the muscles, tissues, and organs. It also reduces inflammation and benefits your immune system.
